for the past few weeks I'll get a strong whiff of fuel vapor on occasion after I shut my car off. It's not a raw fuel smell and it doesn't always happen --- but when it does the smell is very strong. the first time I noticed it I immediately checked the fuel connects at the engine and checked out the lines to the tank and didn't / don't see any fuel leaks. I got under the back a week or so ago and other than the rusted lines (that should be probably replaced) everything looked okay. It seems like right after a fill up and during hot days it's the worst.
Anyway, I smelled it today after I parked in the garage and popped the gas cap to see if there was pressure built up ---- there wasn't but what I heard was a bubbling sound, like high pressure air was being blown into the tank. It would "glub" a couple of times then wait a second or two and then repeat. It didn't seem like the strong fuel smell was coming from the tank --- but damn I can't pinpoint it either.
I replaced the solenoid within the past few years but don't know the evap system as well as I probably should so I'm not sure where to start looking. So if you can make heads or tails of this message I'd appreciate any ideas where to start looking.
thanks!
