Fuel Sensor Replacement ?

My wife has a 2001 Gran Prix (of course) I have the fuel level sensor on order. Can anybody please give me some tips or tricks on how to change it. I have been reading but the only thing I come up with is that you can change it from inside the truck instead of dropping the fuel tank.
