Fuel Pump/Resistor issue

I have a 1997 Grand Prix GTP. It starts without an issue, but dies after 4-5 seconds. After research I noticed that it usually is the fuel pump resistor. Well, I went ahead and did the bypass and it ran good when I did that.Aside from the raw gas I could smell from the exhaust. Well, I go the boneyard and pulled litterally 15 of them. Well, EVERY single one I put on... it would die again. I'm kind of stuck. Don't really wanna spend the money on a new one if that not exactly it, because I highly doubt EVERY single one of those were bad. I'm leaning torwards the pump is bad and will only run right on high. I hear it kick on regardless of what resistor is in there. I also switched the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump speed resistor with no success(I seen they were the same part #). Any ideas would GREATLY be appreciated.
 


is it throwing any codes? if yes, it could be the MAF sensor, if not it could be the CPS

i say this because you can hear the puimp priming correct?
so i sense no problem there

however you say you smell gas, from only the exhaust or the engine bay too? or from under the car in general
 
No codes are being tripped at all; and yes the fuel pump is primming the system. And I can only smell the gas comming from the exhaust when the bypass is done to the fuel pump speed resistor, which makes it run on high.. But doing that makes the car run without dying. As soon as the the bypass is reversed to normal.. back to dying. But I've tried replacing that resistor without any luck.
 
Also the pump is kind of noisy, but has been since I've had the car. Makes a whinning noise. I've also had cars in the past do that too without an issue.
 
:th_shakinghead2:Well.. I replaced the regulator. No luck. I then went ahead replaced the fuel pump thinking the coil went bad... No luck. I put a pressure test on it and it is DEFINETLY loosing pressure. When I run the bypass on the relay though it stays running with the proper fuel pressure. I'm really stuck here.
