Ok this is on my 98gtp, I talked here while back about it being louder than I've heard on other grand prixs including my others, somebody said it may be aftermarket but here it is is it normal Watch "98 grand prix gtp fuel pump" on YouTube

That's the way it is with this one, my air box is loud to, not sure why makes my engine sound rough

Fuel Pump. I installed a Cold air intake on day one so I don't remember if the air box was loud but my fuel pump is somewhat worryingly loud, but it has been like that for 3 years since I bought the car.

On an interesting note my buddy with a 2002 Bonneville with 110k, replaced his fuel pump assembly and noticed a noticeable increase in fuel economy. Doesn't make sense to him or I, but he has seen an increase. Don't remember either pump being noisy but the Bonneville is a different platform so who knows.
 


I was worried about mine and at I think 202000 miles on my 00 gtp it went out and I bought a fuel pump online for it and it increased to almost 27 mpg while my 98 is at 24 both city but that dic ain't 100% accurate cause I reset my miles and on the interstate I drove till the dic said 1 gallon used and my miles said 30 miles so I figured 30 mpg on interstate, better than our 03 Se

Your GTP should get better mileage than the SE. I have an 02 SE that got me roughly 24 - 27ish mpg highway. 3.1L engine. My 99GTP was getting me 31.9mpg on a 400+ mile hike from Michigan to Wisconsin. That was me driving between 60 - 75 depending on traffic. Also made like 3 stops along the way. That was with a completely stock engine and exhaust too.
