Fuel pump drawing to many amps?

I have a 2000 Grand prix 3800 Gt and have been having problems with the fuel pump relay getting hot and i have checked all the grounds and the main power wire going to the pump and everything tested out good. After i put a new pump in it its still drawing 10 amps. Is that too much and how much should it be pulling. And i have replaced the fuel filter too.
