Fuel Guage not working

So I have a 2000 Grand Prix GT that has a broken fuel guage. But the problem is that not just the fuel guage is broken. The resetable trip meter also does not count up. I reset it and it stayed at 0000. And last but not least is the digital guages above the vents. This also always tells me I only get about 11 miles to the gallon. And the digital fuel used meter always resets its self. How would I go around fixing some of these things?

Change the fuel sender on the fuel pump canister. That will likely fix the gauge and DIC.

On the trip odo, that's a mechanical deal on your car correct?

Yep. Its the same as a odometer just resetable. It doesn't roll as of two days ago. Probably need to have the whole cluster replaced soon though.

as for your dash trip try pressing the button again sometimes i have to press mine a few times after i do the press and hold reset

My odometer works, it was just my trip meter. My trip meter did begin to work. Im taking my car by the local Buick GMC dealership to have some work done on it. Ill ask around to see if they can find the problem with it. Get a estimate to decide if I should let them do the work or just do it myself. Im not an experienced technician when it comes to parts. Most I can do is change speakers and the radio. But I'm still living at home and my dad is very good with cars. Worked in a ford factory back in the 70s before everything got machine made. We are changing the struts and springs this week. Tires and breaks soon. Then everything else.

Dealer is likely going to tell you that a new fuel pump assembly (including sender) is needed at abotu $300. The sender which you can swap easier than any strut or radio costs about $30

The odo tripper, they'll probably suggest a new or rebuilt cluster....again big moola

I would give it a 99% chance of it being a sender. They are extremely common on the 97+ GM vehicles. If you look at a sender, there's 4-6 little fingers that ride a resistor slide. Over time the fingers break off. When this happens the sender only works in a couple of positions at best.

If you wanted to test it..you could pull the pump assembly (15 min) and take a look at it.
