Fuel gauge issues

Its almost comical to me all the little issues this car exhibits.Luckily it starts right up and gets me to point A and B. Anyway ive already noticed that the cluster has issues, and the DIC is totally inaccurate.Heres what im wondering though? The car seems to have at least three ways of telling you that you are low on fuel. The gas guage on the cluster is one,but that bounces up and down on mine. I had this problem with a former vehicle and ended up being a sensor in the tank. Second signal is the actual box that shows up on the cluster. I generally rely on this one coming on to put fuel in the car. However it may very well be connected to that same low fuel sensor that makes the guage act up and thus not reliable. And of course the DIC flashes LOW,but again that is acting up and the numbers keep jumping from low to high, high to low.At times both the low fuel box on the cluster and the LOW flashes on the DIC at the same time or stays on,but if i cut the car off and back on neither of the low fuel warnings will light up.If they were working correctly wouldnt those lights continue to come on until you put gas in it?

Yeah, if it were working they should stay on if you are low on fuel.

Are there any mods done to your car that you know of?

yes, your fuel sending unit is crapping out. Usualy you have to replace the whole fuel pump assembly. I know GM sells some stuff you put in your fuel tank thats suposed to help the connections on the sender get a good connection. Never had it work though, but we always tried it on cars that the sender wasn't working at all... might be worth a try... cheaper than a new pump assembly.

If not, fill your tank up and reset your trip odometer. Drive 100 miles and fill up again. take the number of miles you drove and divide by the number off gallons it took to fill up. Then multiply by I think 13 gallons for the amount of fuel you tank holds. then that is the number of miles you can go before your next fill up.

Im not sure about any mods.I do assume that these cars came with headers otherwise that might be a mod.
