Fubar'ed my power locks. Any ideas???

I've got a '96 GP. Got the dreaded window off the track syndrome while back. After disassembling the driver's door, it was clear that there were two problems - (1) the plastic guides at the front and back of the plastic edges on the glass had worn and the fuzzy stuff on the tracks was gone.

A trip to the pick and pull salvage yard showed that all the other GPs there were the same or worse. The solution turned out to be very simple:

1. Carefully narrowed the gap on the front and rear tracks.
2. Used epoxy and graphite to laminate new track slugs front and rear, top and bottom.

Works absolutely perfectly and never falls off the track. The bad news that somehow I fubar'ed the power locks and they seem to be shorting to the interior light. Whenever the light is on, the locks don't work. Whenever the interior light is off, the power locks work perfectly. It doesn't blow fuses, it's just that the locks don't work when the interior light is on. The locks still engage when the car is put into drive and disengage when it's put in park.

I've checked the wiring in the door a couple of times and can't see where I messed anything up.

Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have a similar problem?

Thanks...Boatman

Since it's a '96, is it a two door with the handles on the pillar? If it is, take the cover off the door handle mechanism. Should be one screw at the bottom and one nut at the top on the inside edge of the door. There is a small light that comes on around the keyhole. If it's broken, it's possible it could be shorting there since that light comes on with the courtesy lights. I think it comes on when you pull the handle or use the key if I remember correctly.

Only thing I can think of.
