Front door glass replacement alignment!

GTPJIM

Hi Guys, I had the misfortune of having my car broken into 2002 GTP 4DR last week where the front passenger window was smashed :(
I have reinstalled a new window but am now having an alignment problem as when the window is all the way down and I power it up, it
seems to be caulked forward, is there any way to adjust this or is it a problem with the aftermarket glass I purchased from ROCK AUTO
although the quality looks good and its made in the USA, please HELP!

I wouldn't expect there to be a problem with the glass, unless it's the incorrect part. I just replaced one of my doors, and had to switch the windows since the scrap car door had tinted glass. Anyway the first time I put it in, it didn't align correctly somehow, and did basically what you're describing. I really didn't know what to do either, so I removed the guides and reinstalled, somehow fixing it. I also had put silicone paste in the guides, and lithium grease on the track. Sorry, that's all I've got.

Thanks for taking the time to reply but the issue became more apparent today as when I closely looked at the after market glass the problem lay with lug mounts on the glass that attach to the regulator, they are completely different to OEM as to how the glass sits in the regulator as I ended up at the Auto Wreckers and removed one from a 02 GT and it identical to the OEM part, so off I went and had it installed in like 15 min, it fitted perfectly and tracked fine just like new!
I intend to return the after market one to Rock Auto, my advice for replacement glass is try to stay with OEM if you want a nice fitting window that will track and seal well.
To actually perform this job of changing the glass, I can now do it in 45 minutes from start to finish!

Glad it all worked out. I would tell you to match the old parts with the new, but hey, I don't think you really had that opportunity lol
Even two stock windows doesn't look exactly the same, that black strip at the bottom was different: It worked fine though.

Thanks for the great pics as the actual difference lay with regards to OEM and Aftermarket, the difference was the white tabs at the bottom of the glass, these are what attach the window to the regulator and also set the angle and glass position forward and after, my advice if these tabs are not identical to what you had don't use!
In my case my original glass was just like what you have displayed where the aftermarket one has a flat rectangular tab, as a frequent buyer from Rock Auto and someone who is very pleased with their service they have already sent me return shipping labels for parts return and refund, thanks to all for your help!
