Front Cover and Rear Cover gasket?

I just received my transmission rebuild from Dave at TEP. I have a question before I buck the transmission up to the engine. While the engine is out of the car I am replacing the Front cover gasket and the Rear cover gasket. I notice that after removing there was ATV at the lower corners of the cover as it meets the oil pan. Does any one have any pictures, or can explain exactly how to apply the ATV to the corners of the front cover? I really want to make sure I do this part right.

I also notice that rear cover bolts have some sort of loctite on them. Does anyone know what type of loctite this is in the picture below?
