Front Brakes Locking up and brake pedal feels hard to push.

What is causing my front brakes, mostly the left to start not wanting to come to a stop unless I press harder and then they lock up. Sometimes the ABS light comes on, sometimes it doesn't. It's getting worse and more common everyday. Anyone experienced this on a base 2007 model?

could be a bad brake booster, if the brake pedal feels the same with the car off.

or a bad master cylinder if its hitting the floor.

the abs light could be a bad hub. bad hubs will also make the brakes feel funny. when the hub is bad it moves side to side, then the caliper has a hard time holding the rotor tight.

jack up each tire, lugs tight, then push and pull the top of the tire, you can watch the rotor where it meets the brake pads for movement, as well as feel it move if its loose.

also check the level in the master cylinder if its low the brakes dont feel right as well.

No squeaking no squealing. I have had my ABS Traction control lights comung on for about a month very intermittingly, especially when I hit some bumps. Been doing alot of reading and I believe it's leading me to a bad wheel bearing hub. Fluid levels are fine and pads have at least half their life left. I bought new rotors and pads but haven't installed them yet. I believe it's the left front that is the problem. I will check them for movement. Seems this is pretty common. I have 107,000 miles now. Just replaced a vent actuator that was tapping under the dash and driving me nuts. Thanks for your input. It's scary to drive it with this brake problem.

Two right side wheel hubs with play up and down. Not alot, but it probably doesn't take much. Thanks for all the insight. I have four new hubs, new front rotors and brakes being delivered. I'll post the result.

dont but cheap ebay hubs, they suck, and you'll be redoing the whole job all to soon.

get moog or timken, or sfk iirc these run about 120 to 130 a hub and have 3 year warrantys.
