I have a 2004 grand prix gt with a 3800 series III engine with 239,000 miles on it. Could anyone tell me where the freeze or expansions plugs are located on the engine and how many are there? And are you able to get to any of them with out removing the engine like I have heard some of the older years had to do?

you need to pull the engine to replace the plugs on the backside of the engine the trans is to tight there to get to them.
the fronts can be done in the car.
they are located in the block of the engine.
are they leaking? if not leave them be.

Hello Scottydoggs we are not sure any are leaking yet. The car is loosing water and we have replace the 2 plastic elbows above the water pump, have a water pump for it but have not changed out yet because the car stopped overheating and are not seeing any leaking from the p hole on the water pump or around it. It has not overheated for about 5 months until the last few days going above the mid mark line. Have changed out the thermostat earlier just before the elbows were replaced. When it cooled down tonight opened up the radiator and had to put a gallon in it to fill it up and resevoir was also low. Took a flashlight and looked around the motor to see if I could see anything leaking saw some anti freeze dripping on the passenger side but not sure if it is what I spilled. So I out some cardboard under it in the area I saw the anti freeze and will check in the morning. Thanks for replying

if the freeze plugs were leaking the drips or puddle would be more center of the engine, bumper side or fire wall side.
the rad hose may be leaking, or when you did the elbows if you didnt clean the holes up real good they could be leaking.
the water pump, grab the pulley with both hands, push one side, pull the other, then back and fourth. if you feel it moving its shot and could be the leak. water pumps like to leak when they feel like it. odd creatures lol
then theres the good old pressure tester. it hooks where the rad cap goes and you pressurize the coolant system, this will make force it to leak when its cold so you can get your hands in and around the engine with out getting burnt up. you can rent this at the parts store, well free rental as i like to call it. you leave a deposit on the tool, then get a full refund when you bring it back. free rental...
