For the RC crowd- Team Losi 1/36 scale micro trucks!

I figured I would just start a new thread on this as opposed to add to my last one but for the guys that have been in the RC car world or maybe not in a few years like myself Team Losi came out a year or two back with a 1/36 scale series of micro trucks! There are 3 different models available and range from $79.99-$89.99 ready to run. I ordered 6 of them last week for me and a few friends to toy with and thought about selling them and hop-up parts also. The come with 27mhz radio systems and there are 6 different channels-main reason I ordered 6 so that many people can drive at once. They are roughly 5" long and have a slew of features just like the 1/10th and 1/18th scale electric trucks including independent suspension, rear differential, adjustable slipper clutch, etc. There are lots of upgrade parts available to my suprise including aluminum suspension arms, LiPo batteries and charge, Brushless motor and speed controller options, bearing kits, the works. There are a handful of home vids on YouTube if you search for them as well as going to Losi's website. I am going to pick them up later today to see how they are. We figured we could build a small track in the garage or at a shop that has more room and my machinist had the brilliant idea of milling out plastic mini trailers for trailer racing lol. I will try to post up some pics later. Out of the box they advertise 10-12mph but there are plenty of upgrades to easily double that and for something that tiny Im sure it will be insane to drive!

damn, $90 for a nice RC car. id love to have a nice beasty T-MAXX, or are those way out of date by now?

Well we tried out a few of the trucks last night and I must say I am impressed with what the do for the size and its still baffling to see something "5 move around like it does with the precision of a larger one! I already found a flaw within the first few minutes of driving in the transmission.... yeah I know hahaha lol. I ended up taking it apart after not even going through the first charge on the battery in quest of an answer to the problem which was the differential not working hardly at all instead of smooth action and the gearbox feeling like there was too much drag on it. It turns out the diff is just a hair wider than it should be and because of this the trans case halves pinch it together too tight and cause a slight bind so it was off to the machine shop to make more room to it works.... and NO I cant leave anything alone hehehe. I put it back together and the diff works how it should now but also my buddy noticed that though his diff didnt work right at first either it did seem to loosen up after a lot of driving. There is a forum I found with a whole bunch of RC guys and is called Hobbytalk.com . There is a track and hobby store search or listing and lots of talk and discussion about the cars and tracks and even racing schedules though there isnt a lot real close to me- aside one decent track a whole 3 minutes down the street lol.

I have always wanted one of these things. There is a guy just across the border who builds these nitro racer things and it flys. I am so surprised at the speeds it hits I always wanted one.
