Ugh its always something with this damn car of mine, really stressing me out. Once i fix something, something else goes wrong....:th_angry-teeth::th_angry-teeth::th_angry-teeth:

Well i got out of work today and came to this, this isnt the first time but holy hell this is worse that its ever been. There was a couple inches of water in there. I dont think heater core because i used my ac a bit today and yes it was raining and it did it. It has done this a few times as it was raining but only if the ac or heat is on. Now if i dont run either heat or ac and it rains, it doesnt always do it and even sometimes regardless if i use either or and it rains, my floor board wont flood. The water doesnt seem to be coming from anywhere near the blower under the glove box either. Im stumped:th_scratchhead:

I went to a GM dealership earlier and the guy i spoke to said that it was probably my ac duct that was clogged? Is that the same as the ac condensate line?

I dont think its that, i just took a long down there and nothing is wet, its all a little dusty actually. Its obvious if water passed through there and im afraid not even a drop passed...

Yeah I was gonna ask if it had rained cuz thats where the water would have come from I just didn't think that much water could come from the condenser.

If you look behind the engine on the firewall kind of on the passenger side of the car there is a little rubber boot that comes off the firewall that is the drain for the condenser for the ac if that is plugged then yeah the water will most likely end up on your floorboard. I'm not sure where the other end of the line is though, maybe do some a Google search for a diagram of the HVAC system.

Yeah it rained a lot today actually. But ill have to check for the line tomorrow as im about out of daylight and as far as the google searching, ill try my best. If possible could you help me out?

pull the carpet up, and run a garden hose down your windshield, while doing that watch for water to come streaming down the foot board to the floor. if so you need a new cowl deflector thing.
 


What you need is a GM part called a deflector. Have a dealerdhip order you one. Water is leaking through the rotted rubber seal between your windshield and engine compartment. In this case the old-design deflector doesnt direct water to the drain over your wheel well.

Instead the water is draining into the blower motor area and then onto your floor. This is a common problem, exactly the same thing happened to me. Installing the deflector is easy and its cheap. Hit me up once you get one I can give you more instsllation info.

I just dont think water is getting in there though.

Wow kzoo? Your the closes to me that ive seen on here lol. What kind of grand prix you got?

Anways, i dont think its that though. As i said above, theres nothing wet when i check the blower motor and its still a bit dusty, no moisture or anything so it cant be that.

It has been rainy here all day also. After i cleaned up, it was still raining and i didnt see any water leaking through hours later.

if the floor gets wet when its not raining its the a/c drains. if it happened only when it was raining, its the deflector.
 
Oh yeah reppin Kali. Haha. I live right in downtown Kalamazoo and drive a dark green '97 SE 3.8L N/A. How far out is Sturgis?

Anyways it could be coolant or ac related but a) youd be smelling and losing a TON of coolant and probably overheating and b) I dont think that the ac system can produce that volume of water from condensation. Your floorboards look exactly like mine did, including the dry carpet closest to the glove box.

Uhh its about 45 mins or so, sometimes im near the mall or down by Bronson hospital.

But i did ask a GM dealer an he looked at me like i was nuts after telling him that its water that flooded the passenger side, not coolant.

Would autozone carrying something like this?

Ill have to try with the next dealer around my area because this last 1 i mentioned about it didnt quite agree with me but ok will do. :)

Thank you.. I was reading through this thread and immediately thought, how could it not be rain if it only does it when it's raining? Lol it doesn't take Spock to spot that logic.

Edit: I have the same problem on my car.. But I'm a cheap bastard so I just park facing downhill when it rains. Problem solved.

Haha if only i had hills to park on, id probably do the same thing. :th_biggrin2:

On the other hand if I forget and park uphill it makes it 10x worse.

i fixed mine with a plastic bag 2 years ago, it still works. and this was before i even found this site. or that write up.

it was have a problem, fix a problem, for free time, and its lasted longer than i ever thought it would.

and the wet floor does start to stink.

free tip: buy a large box of baking soda, and sprinkle it over the wet rug, after it drys vac it up with a shop vac. it kills any odors.
 
Floor was a little wet before 11am due to a little bit of rain so when 11 hit (it was my lunch break) i decided to get under the glove box and discovered this little leak...

Then i decided to get under the cowl and seen this sitting water which i thought never got wet in the first place but there was way more water around the blower when i looked under the cowl around 11am but forgot to take a pic...

And after getting the part from my GM dealer, after about an hour later, i finally got it installed.:)

Now it took so long because i have a 1 piece cowl and it took for ever to cut off that piece that has the clips that holds the rubber wall between the drain and blower. I couldnt remove the wiper arms, had troubles with that so it was a tight fit installing the part.

By the way, where does that drain lead to? I wanna make sure its not clogged at all because i had leaves and other gunk next to it. :D:D:D
