I'm getting a 40th anniversary spoiler how do I go about covering and painting the holes from the original spoiler?

No need to make a new thread.

Anyways, It might be easier to get a trunk that didn't come with a spoiler.

So they cant just be bondoed? What would be the preferred painting method if I didn't gave access to a professional sprayer? Or would it be best to just go to a shop?

Well thanks for the honesty haha. I know it varies from place to place but how much do you think a shop would charge to repaint the trunk and spoiler?

Getting the right decklid is much easier. They can be bondoed over but the holes are too big and they will show through the paint in time. That would be a seriously half-ass approach to take, and a buzzkill later on. Metal gets fixed with metal, filler fills scratches or dents. But its your car and we all do what we gotta.

No idea on cost, 300-500 is a ball park for welding holes, drilling new holes, sand/prep/paint/clear.

Under the stock spoiler the paint will be damaged anyway. they are never perfect because crap gets under the spoiler and it flexes an rubs it in.

Thats a fair ballpark guess on cost, but it might go even higher. Welding up the holes can create quite a bit of work. Perhaps an SE (no spoiler) lid could be found and drilled instead.

I know a couple junk yards nearby have some but none in my color so I'd have to still get it painted :( 100$ spoiler just turned into 400$ spoiler *sigh*

I'm a bodyman but have the spoiler and lid you want stashed on my porch. Just need to paint em black, but now you know why I hung onto the lid n spoiler. I plan to use them both. If I were you, I'd check the possibility of using a spoiler-less lid to start with. The paint money might not be so bad without the welding, bondo, and primer.

Sounds good I'll see how much I can get a lid for and then call to get a paint quote. Let me know if you wanna sell your lid and spoiler after you paint it black haha!
