First brake job on my wife's 08 Grand Prix

My wife's 08 Grand Prix needs it first brake job. I have done them before for cars I have had 02 Civic SI and current 08 WRX. I am looking to replace the pads and rotors. Car has about 60K on it.

From looking doing the fronts is like a normal car. No issues there. Reading about the rears I am seeing I need a Torx for it. I am not seeing what size I need and what they are removing. Also do I need a special took like I did for my Honda to get the piston back into the caliper for the rear end?

Thank you for your help,

Thanks. I have one of those from when I had to work on my Honda. :)

Was able to get the fronts done today. Those caliper bolts where a big pain. At least the vibration in the front end of the car is now gone when braking at highway speeds. That is what matters most. Hope to get the rear's done Saturday.

I got under the car today. Not jacked up yet but just to look at the back of the brakes. I am not seeing the Torx. I see the two bolts for the calipers and the two for getting to the pads. I am looking at the new rotors and I do not see a spot where anything would bolt into them. I am do some searching do I not have the Torx because I have the V6? I saw that the V8 have a little different setup.

.. the rear breaks are just 2 bolts to get the caliper bracket off the spindle and then 2 for the caliper itself.. whats this Torx you speak of? then you just press in and turn to get the piston back into the caliper

Just found that out. Guess it is the V8 version that has the extra Torx bolts. Got the rear brakes done now. Car feels great!
