F'in Land lord

So we have moved into a house with an almost dead well (didnt know it when we moved)
water is murky and yellow, and the well runs dry if you do more than flush a toilet.
Been living here a month with no real effort from the land lord. Yesterday we threatened to begin legal action because he is in violation of the lease.

Well we just got a message saying we should probably just move.

Now my future sister in law is all up in a frienzy demanding we move NOW, and we cant wait, and everything.
I have 4 exams, and two projects due in the next too weeks.
Ive already moved on a few days notice because of my brother and his wife, not happening again.

****ing people have no spine.

going to cost roughly 10 grand for your landlord to dig a new well, it isnt going to be a quick fix.

Seems like you need to move out on your own and stop shacking up with those same family members and do a better job checking over everything before signing a lease.

find last tenants, then sue the land lord for all your rent you've paid up. cause he clearly knew the well was f ed up and he dont care.

last tenants are for a witness.

There was a provision in the lease for him to fix the drinkability issue of the water. without having a well guy come out, we had no way of knowing the well was not refilling at the proper rate.
The lease is rock solid too. he has breached it legally like in 2 different ways. Weve payed rent on the dot, and hes telling us to move because we tried enforcing the lease.

I understand that, but the problem is, that he said he was going to get a quote 3 weeks ago, no one has been out, then it was two weeks ago, then last week. He isnt doing ANYTHING, but telling us hes ABOUT to do something.
He is also extremely difficult to get in touch with. wont answer phone or return messages.

Found out from the well guy the last tennents had him come out like 4 times for the same issue.

So its been a month, with no drinkable water, not being able to shower here, or wash clothes, and the landlord is ignoring us.

im not on the landlord side, my comment might of sounded like that but thats not the case:th_winking:, just saying it will be a big job.
he could of got someone there in the same day i have no doubt, not to sure what his game is but if you take him to court you will get your money back, tenants always win(I used to be a landlord/resident manager for a company, even if our company was in the right we would still lose lol)

Lease or no lease, I'm sure if you check with your town, the landlord owes you potable water... He can have a truck and storage tank connected to the house, but it's the landlords call. No potable water = residence is uninhabitable, period! There's no need to play around, make sure you notify the landlord of your intent to leave, also that he may be responsible for temporary housing cost as his residence is uninhabitable... Total BS especially if he wrote in the lease its a known issue and he hasn't fixed it!

Anyways, good luck!

Call him tell him he should be expecting a call from your lawyer.

never threaten to call a lawyer. Get your ducks in a row and contact the former tenants as stated and a statment from the Well guy, then contact a lawyer and have him send a letter and have him either fix the problems or you are going to sue for everything you can ( have the lawyer figure out what to say and what you can sue for). I'm not really sure about your living situation with the extra people and all but that seems to be a seperate issue altogether.

so many people pull out the I'm going to sue card that no one believes them. You get a certified letter from a lawyer and most people will get off their asses and get it done or they get all pissed and try to throw you out. You got a cell phone have it on video anytime you have any interaction with him just in case he's crazy. So it'll either go relatively painlessly or you will end up sueing him for all your expenses and any other stuff that can be tacked on, such as atty fees and things of that nature.

UPDATE,
We all agreed (My family), that regardless of having the legal right to stay we are moving. I investigated our rights and we could have made several claims and gotten our money for last months rent back, and maybe even moving expenses since the house was never habitable. My names not on the lease so I cant pursue any of this. What ended up happening was that we called the landlord, and made an agreement that we will be out by the 15th, and in exchange for not pursuing legal action, we do not have to pay rent this month while we are moving.

I found myself and my mother (shes more or less unemployed) a two bedroom apartment that's about 15 minutes from everything I need (school, work, downtown, the best eating/shopping places etc) Also has gas: heat, water heater, and stove. The Gas, water, sewage, and trash are all included in the rent, so im pretty happy about that going into winter. I'm not thrilled about being in an apartment, ive always had a yard or somewhere I can do things like work on my car. I am excited though This will be the first place where I have my name on everything, and im covering the rent. Ive lived on my own before but there was always some level of help. This place is all me.
Moving on the 12th, unfortunately I have exams this week so.. that's gonna be fun.

this time you only have to move 1/2 the house right? lol

Ehhhhh, my brother and his fiancés stuff amount to a bed, dresser 2 night stands and a coffee table. 3/4ths of the furniture is my moms and its going into storage. trying to load all the extra furntiture into storage tomorrow so next week were only moving whats going in the apartment

with any luck you still have boxes that never got opened and unpacked lol i feel for ya. moving sucks, moving 2 times in what 3 months? really sucks.

2 times and 2 months. My name is on the lease this time, so im not moving again anytime soon.

I feel your pain. my wife and I moved in June, then again in July. first time we moved was from our house that we lived in for 8 years, and moved to a duplex half the size with a less than honest landlord, and now we live in a 450 square foot cabin. we have a bedroom, bathroom, and a kitchen/office/dining room.

I had a landlord that pitched a fit because I called the gas company because I could smell natural gas in the front yard. When I went into the back the pipe leading out of the ground into the house was worn through at the base from the yard people hitting it with the weed whacker for years. It was so bad that it looked like a mirage and I couldn't shut the gas off because the valve was stuck. The gas company had to come out and shut it off for our block until they could remove the old meter and cap it. The landlord said he was just going to tape it. He ended up having to trench a new line and they put the meter right next to the house. Cold showers for a week, but better than blowing up the whole house.

We bought a house a few years later and now we have to deal with HOA, and they are a pain in the ass too. I constantly get notices for the "mildew" on one side of the house. I have been explaining to them for the last 10 years that it's the texture of he siding and has been like that since the house was new. I have pics of the house since before it was a foundation and even before it was painted you can see it in some of the pics but it's only from a certain angle. The HOA has changed so many times its not even funny I think we are on the 5th company.

I wanted to buy some land and build a 60'X80' Building on the land and build the house inside and the wife would have none of it. Now she's watching HG tv and stuff and seeing those and saying "We should have done that!" Lol
