Few turbo questions for the build!

98GT3800

I am in need of a few answers. I have my crossover made, plate made for rear manifold. and few odds and ends but my biggest questions are a what size turboes should i be looking to get, I want a decent size but not to big to end up needing internal work.
keep in mind id like to go with an internal wastegate

1 what size injectors or do i run factor GTP injectors?
2. will this mod run on my factory pcm to get me to to the guy that tunes in our area (25-30miles)
3. what fuel pump?
and is that all i need so far besides the oil lines and exhaust, and intake pipes and the obvious stuff?

The turbo is the only thing holding me back at the moment!

Also this isnt on the Grand Prix, but on my 2000 Bonneville 3.8. All i have at the moment is a HV3 and FWI. Im doing the down pipe when the turbo goes on.

thanks for the help sorry if any of this is confusing!

wow guess no one has ever turboed a 3800, i know thats a lie but if anyone can help, would be appreciatd

You basically need a turbo mani, T61 seems like a nice starting level turbo.

60# injectors basically are a must.

the 255 walbro pump is a good pump for the higher HP levels.

You cant drive a turbo car without at least a proper canned tune.

They're not tools, I just like to eat their DICKS.
Fixed for accuracy.

People on ClubGP have been around longer and are less tolerant to stupid ass threads/questions.

"What does it take to go turbo?"
If you have to ask then you dont need to be going turbo.

Ahhh I see... just a few of my buddies who are members on there ( Who are quite knowledgeable about GP's) Hate the guys on there. Maybe I will have to check it out for myself though!

he does have a point

That doesnt remove your dick status.

They're knowledgeable and anyone worthy of gaining their knowledge will learn how to get it.

Well my questions werent how to go turbo, I havent done turbo on a v6 car wasnt sure on a starting point. the last car we done turbo on was a Mazda Protege, but i was able to get a mazdaspeed ecm from a car that had already had turbo so i had no problems. Just wasnt sure on this if i was able to make it to a tuner as is.
I been on ClubGP for a while but i prefer this site, and yes i see as where some people get tired of answering same old questions but i could not find answers to mine.
Plus the bonnevilleclub isnt really detailed like this site, search engine on it really sucks also

If you know where to look and who to listen to on clubgp, it is probably the best place for recent knowledge because the search engine blows.

I would run at minimum 45lb injectors

2. will this mod run on my factory pcm to get me to to the guy that tunes in our area (25-30miles)

Maybe and maybe not, depends on how much your airflow changes and definitely no boosting. Would be a safer bet to pay the guy $20 for gas to come to you then chance driving that far untuned.

3. what fuel pump?

Depends on how far you want to go with it, on my car i've ran the stock gt fuel pump for awhile now and had no issues. But at the same time i've not boosted more than 10lbs. And know the fuel pump from the supercharged vehicles has a little better flow. If anything I'll be adding a booster pump before long.

And for the turbo the t-61 is a great starting point especially if you don't want to start replacing internals or the transmission.

Hope that helps

Tha helps alot. should be a bit easier to browse for the turbo itself now. now as far as boosting goes for these cars is it equavalent to a SC'ed car. i know the launch aint going to help me out, but as far as spooling up are they pretty close?

also im having a bit of trouble with these sizes, like wheel inducer/exducer, turbine inducer/exducer, a/r, trim, compressor size.

how about this
- Compressor -
Wastegate Type: Internal Wastegate
Ball Bearing Style: Wet Floating
Oil Inlet Type: 1/8 NPT
Air Intake Inlet: 3"
Wheel Inducer & ExDucer: 2" / 3"
Trim: 57
A/R: .50
- Turbine -
Downpipe Flange: V-Band Exhaust Flange
Outlet Measure: 2.5"
Cooling Type: Oil cooled system
Manfiold Flange: T3 4 Bolts Flange
Inducer & Exducer: 2.58" / 2.25"
Trim: 76
A/R: .63

now as far as boosting goes for these cars is it equavalent to a SC'ed car

As far as power output? You will actually get a little more power out of boosting a N/A engine with a smaller amount of boost because of the higher compression. And with a turbo it's easy to boost more because it's controlled by the waste gate and not having to change a pulley.
