felling up for a discussion about drivtrains

so i was sitting in class today wondering
wouldnt a fwd or mid engine mounted car have less power loss to the wheels because of a lack of the drive shaft?
if so wouldnt the mid engine car be a really good drag car because it doesnt have the drive shaft loss and the added weight over the tires could help with traction?

FWD has more drivetrain loss than a RWD car by a good amount.

Mid-engine design - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Technically in a rwd vehicle there is less loss through the drivetrain. I think it is something like 15% for rwd and as high as 23% for fwd vehicles, don't quote me on that.
