feasible to convert to manual AWD?

i apologize if this has already been answered, but nothing relevant resulted from a search.

would it be feasible (or not too difficult/expensive) to replace my auto tranny with at least a 5-speed manual & convert my ride to AWD?

LOL.

No and No.

Tons of hours worth of work/custom fabrication, and several thousand dollars. Most likely more than the cars worth for it to be trustworthy.

that would pretty much be custom, one-off everything. people have done manual trans swaps though. i think a guy named kuntzie sells a complete kit. it's not cheap though

hmm.. thanks. yah, maybe kind of a dumb question, lol. just an impulsive thought, i suppose. might explain why i couldn't find anything...

but if i keep the car & have the extra $ in the future, i might just try to convert it to AWD for ****s & giggles. i'll definitely look into the tranny swap if mine goes out tho, which i hear is pretty common with GP's.

youre going to have a hard time retrofitting any AWD tranny to our car. there just simply isnt room for it unless you cut the entire car apart.

There is a version of the 4T65E that's AWD. I know there was a guy on ClubGP working on getting it into the GP, but I don't know if he ever did.

GM did build a AWD Grand Prix (G8 a 5.7l) and could not even get it right. Every time they put it on the track it killed the AWD system. Not worth the time or money.

5-speed swap is much easier, i would know from experience :)

also the 6-speed will only hold around 350hp beore they break, i will be dyno'ing over 500 on tuesday with no issues. (5-speed getrag 284)

as for AWD, a versatrac AWD system coule be used pretty easily, using a montana/ venture setup, the front subframe will bolt right up ect, worth it- not really but im still thinking of doing it for fun,
