Fbody brake swap questions...

So I have noticed that a number of people have Fbody brakes installed on their cars, and there were a couple setups in the classified section... I was wondering what all is needed for this, and what year cars they come off. I was at the local bone yard the other day and they had about 4 or 5 4th gen camaros and a couple third gen camaros all with the complete front brakes. What do I need? just the brackets and calipers? do I need different rotors than I have stock on my GTP?

you need the calipers, the brackets, and the rotors, but new rotors are a good idea. and the f body brake lines. or stainless steel lines are nice too. any 2000 and up camaro, or firebird will work.

and you will need 4 of these spacers listed below, or drill and tap your the f body bracket to fit the w body bolts. the f body bolts are thinner then the w body bolts, so you need to do one or the other.

If your going to a junkyard and have the original Camaro bracket bolts, and want to re-use those, then skip #1

1- (4) 12mm bolts 12x1.75x40mm
2- (4) 6679K16 spacers from McMaster-Carr (12mm INSIDE/14mm OUTSIDE/15MM LONG)

heres a pretty good write up as well. shows the spacers too. Midwest 3800 • How to install F-body brakes [ Guest ]

Cool. Thanks Scotty. Seeing as how the ABS wires from the sensors on BOTH sides are fubar on my car, looks like this spring I will be doing this and new timken hubs. That write up makes it simple.

Don't use the spacers to do it... Lemme rephrase that..

You can use the spacers, but I wouldn't trust that one bit.

I tapped the brackets for mine. A lot safer and not hard to do.

yeah i was off by two years it seems lol

its one up grade you can enjoy daily. it made a big difference in how my car stops, in dry,wet and snow covered roads.

Ok they say for the rears we can use 2004 GXP's on a 97-03 its a direct bolt on is that the only year or is it 04+?

pretty sure the 04 and up use a e brake in the caliper, not the drum in the rotor like the 97-03 and it is convertible to the newer style.
