Fan hotwire



You are wanting to install an override switch? Most folks just use a tuner, although there is little reason to need to run the fan extra anyway. There are four pins that go to the fan setup, and I am pretty sure the 12V is switched, not the ground. What are you hoping to accomplish?
 
I don't want to have to pay to buy a switch and don't have a tuner though I will get one eventually. I just need my car to run cooler and this is the easiest way to do it for the time being. Besides doing this I'm also flushing out the system to get rid of all the old dexcool crap.

The way to get the car to run cooler is a lower temperature thermostat and setting the fans to come on sooner.

A diagram of what I need to do or of what is what in the wiring? I have a diagram for the fans, I figured that it is more than just a switch, that's what I'm trying to figure out.
 
The easiest way to do it would start with disconnecting the connector to the fans, that way you do not need to worry about diodes and having your 12V hit the computer supplied 12V. You need a decent sized relay and a switch. Run your 12V through the relay to the high-speed lead of the fans, then incorporate a switch wherever convenient.
 
you dont want the fans to run all the time, you will burn out the connector. save your money and do it the right way either with the caspers kit which uses relays, or a custom tuned pcm
 


It's pretty nice having the fan's on a switch for track outtings..

On my old M90\Spray Set-up I had the fan's,IC pump and Water pump on one "master switch" which allowed a pretty quick cool down for test and tune's. I'd be able to get 6 to 7 track passes over a 2 1\2 hour time period with out really hot lapping the crap out of the car. When I'd be sitting in line to make a pass at the strip. I'd just sit with the car off and the switch on and hood up. It worked out great :th_thumbsup-wink:
