False KR and how to get rid of it.

Im assuming its false. So for instance, if im on the highway and doing 60-70 and hit the gas, as soon as the car downshifts Im getting a 4-5* spike of KR but it quickely goes away. It doesnt increase with the RPM infact it goes to 0 by the time I **** again. I dont have any exhaust leaks and there is nothing hitting anywhere. Any ideas on how to get rid of it? It feels very sluggish when it spikes but then it starts to pull nice and strong. Suggestions?

if you know nothing is hitting or touching, why are you assuming it is false?

Because it hits 4-5* but as the RPM go up the KR starts to drop rapidly. It only shows KR for a second or to then drops to zero. I tried taking timing out and it still does it. I figured if it werent false then as the RPM/load increase it would continue to climb. Correct me if im wrong though.

Plugs are way too cold for that setup for one.

Just a U-Bend delete seems sketchy for a 3.4"...then again you do have the S2IC...so it might not matter.

Get some AL605's or AL104's and gap them at .050"...for starters.

Its false if you try high octane fuel and the knock remains.

If you step on the accelerator with the TC locked it will usually knock until the downshift.

P=F*V and let V = RPM which is low in OD so F is high for the given P resulting in knock.

Sorry I miss spoke they are 104's I just replaced them about 2000 miles ago.

I rarely turn off the TC so shoudl I try it with the TC off?

on non 97 cars false knock is EXTREMELY rare.

on 97's with false knock, the KR that shows up is very obvious... usually at anything off idle it will peg it out. Showing false KR at wide open and not anywhere else is basically impossible... The stories of transmissions / downpipes / etc causing false KR are only somewhat true, not many people will be able to tell you that doing one false KR eliminating mod or the other ever helped.

Maybe this is it then. It doesn't seem to do it when i'm in 1st gear and it hits second. Its only if i'm already cursing on the highway and let it drop down to second it spikes to 4-5 but then rapidly drops to zero.
