My girlfriend has an 04 grand prix gt. She had been complaining about her brakes making grinding and abs light had come on, first did a visual inspection determined pads need replaced went to verify the abs light and it was off. Decided just to do the brakes, the old pads had not wore down to metal so was kinda puzzled about where the grinding was coming from. btw did all 4 wheels. Took it out drove around town for bout 30 min no problems figured all was good. Bout a month goes by and she tells me yesterday that her brakes were grinding again but no abs light so I drive it while she is riding shot gun and it kicks into abs and she says there it is thats the grinding. Its def an abs problem it engages on dry streets under light braking. It did it one more time right after it did it the first time then everything was fine. So being curious I drop her off at home and take it out and intentionally try to get it to go into abs and it wouldn't do it unless the tires were actually slipping. Have read through tsb on motor alldata and found one bulletin regarding abs sensor wire rubbing but it said if that was the case it would just throw a code which in turn should disable the system in the ford world which I am much more familiar with. Also while doing the brakes I inspected the abs sensors and everything seemed ok. Just seeing if anybody here has heard or seen of this problem or has any advice.
Thanks
