Evap canister problem

Ok I have a 2007 grand prix gt, and I have the dirty canister and solenoid problem. I was gonna take it off and clean it to make do till I get a new one but the big vacuum hose attached to it that runs to the tank does not want to come off the canister and I'm afraid if I pull to hard I will crack or break the hose. Is their an easier way? Or do I just need to get rough with it lol
