Engine swap

Hey Gp world, i need another engine for my GTP Comp G, I was wondering can i replace my series III with a series II and just switch the upper half and all electronic components? I think the 2 engines are the same besides the electronic throttle control and aluminum upper half.

As long as you get a L67 bottom end...yes. The L36 bottom end is higher compression...if you have the means of tuning it though...I'd put the higher compression in there and make it run like a bat outta hell. If not...a L67 Series II will work just fine.

Unless you found an L67 for a steal, I wouldn't do it.. You can pick up a low mileage L32 for under 1k nowadays

Keep in mind, these are salvage yard prices. I payed 900 for both the L67 in my SE and L32 in my GTP. L67 had 80k, L32 40k. I'm sure you east coast guys have better pricing as you're in the W-body meca. What i'm trying to put out there though is the L32 is coming way down in price and more than likely you can even pick up a short block for a couple hundred bucks if indeed that's all you need.

Lower mileage for the same price is what I mean to say

Ok thx fellas, i just bought a used series 3 for $850 so imma stick with this one and just hook the old one up because it only needs bearings.
