engine rattle on cold start up

i got my gp a few days ago. then today i started it up its not really cold out but it sat overnight. it was rattling like hell. slowley got quiet took about 5-6 mins to go away. sounds like its between supercharger and back of the motor. after 6 mins it didnt make the sound again.

this was in park the whole time and its a 03 with 50k

Sticky lifters altho thats not a rattle sound

does that make a click sound? it had somewhat of a click sound too. whats the lifter solution replace them?

1/3 can seafoam in the oil and run it 50-100 miles
then change oil

thanks i will try it. i let the car sit about 6 hrs and started it back up and it was making the same noise.

What exactly will seafoam do?

acording to the bottle it frees sticking lifters

started up today clicking like hell from back valve cover. sloweley went away after 6 mins it was gone.

just thought i would update that the pontiac dealer replaced all lifters pushrods and rockers

Wow, buisness must be really slow for them! Did they charge you to replace everything?

Could just be the lifters needing to be pumped up with oil, when its very cold out, the oil is thicker so to say, and takes a little while longer to circulate, this is normal.

Could also be piston slap form the piston skirts, as soon as the pistons warm up and expand, this stops. Normal.

Could also be the supercharger rotors, same thing, once they warm up they will expand and quiet down. Normal.

Or...you had a collapsed lifter or two, this happens as well.
