Electrical problem

Currently own a 2005 Comp G and I have an amp wired up off of the positive side of the battery. I started having some flickering issues with my HID's so I purchased a harness. Wired it up off of the fuse box terminal and ran the ground to the battery where I popped both of my low beam fuses. I shifted the ground over to the spot just behind the headlight and the car would turnover but not fire. I moved the power wire down to the positive side of the battery and shifted the ground to where the battery is grounded with the same result. Do I need to removed the amp power wire and see if I am drawing too much? I am a little bit mystified with this problem and any input is greatly appreciated.
