Ok so she's throwing a p1404 pintle position closed performance or however it's worded

I went through the 8 step egr testing procedure everything tested ok
I got 12 volts I got 5 volts I got ground I have my .9 volt in closed position manually moving plunger registers smooth change in voltage up to 5 volts and back down risistance through unit is proper 8 ohms I believe was the number. I checked wires to the pcm I have continuity on pintle position wire and the egr control wire.

I cleaned the valve even though it was virtually spotless no visual signs of carbon or the pintle being held open no change still throws 1404.

I checked my voltages many times couple weeks go by with multi tests, no change. then yesturday the pintle position was reading 3 volts vs the .9 required volts so I'm like ok cool it's intermittent and I caught it. I mess with it trying to get it to settle bavk to .9 volts but it stays at 3 volts. so I replace valve and guess what still throws 1404 I test new valve and it's not a dud... where do I go next?

last ditch effort is to delete it. mine was acting up too, so i deleted its codes, then when i did the engine swap it was deleted off the engine.

i have a tuner tho. but depending where you live you may have a local near by with a tuner who could do it for cheap to free. depends on who your dealing with.

yes sir. when you delete the codes your just setting it to no report, so it shows ready instantly. inspection dont know a thing as long as its "ready" ive got my whole evap, egr, rear o2 and cat all deleted. i pass inspection every time.

Cool
how much is the tuner if you know off hand? Do they have a hand held unit for these cars or is it through a laptop?
I have software for my camaro I'm not against getting it for the Buick as I'm sure I'll find myself tinkering.

the cheapest tuner is to use dhp with a AVT box. they run like 260 shipped. dhp is no more, so its free to use after you eat the cost of the interface.

or what tuner do you have for the camaro? if its HP tuners you can buy credits for the regal and use that.

I had 2 different ones I think one was tuner cats the other I am not sure of at this point I need to dig into my old laptop to see if it's still installed but now that I think about it one of them had many cars that it was compatible with. My software isn't to sophisticated as its only for a lt1 camaro

if you had HP tuners id think you'd know it.

the tuner cat, is that like per set tunes? hp and dhp you can go in and change just about any and everything there is. trans to engine.

I used tuner cats to tune for my 383 you can change everything so long as you understand the jiberish that is tuning, lol. It def is not like a hypertech

got ya, never used that one.

the only draw back to dhp is its only supports the 3100, 3400 and 3800 engines up to 05 grand prix's.

HP is good for almost every car and gets updated yearly.
