Was creeping on the grandprix/3800 facebook group. Noticed a thread talking about e85 and how all you need are 42.5 lb injectors and a tune. Hell some people even claim you dont need a tune, just bigger injectors for 33% more flow. Lol seeing plenty of people just running e85 on a 3.4 pulley, absolutely stock. Now this has me interested since here in Wisconsin there is a hell of a lot of corn fuel to go around. Especially with the current premium prices going up by almost a buck, making e85 look even more wonderful. Now my question is will I be fine running e85 with 60lb injectors and a tune. Or should I also make sure I have a couple of fuel filters/a fuel pump laying around? Some say you need an entire new fuel system others claim they have been running e85 on a stock fuel pump with no problems.
 


you need 60's to run e85. 42's will max out asap on you. the 42 trick is for untuned stock everything, just pop in the 42's and add corn.

Yeah I have a set of those 60lb injectors from zzp laying around. If I install those a tune would be needed?
 
yes you would. the injector file needs to be changed and some other things.

you would be best to get a tuner. not sure if anyones doing canned e85 tunes yet.
 
You "can" run 42s without a tune, but when I did I had severe starting issues and got about 8mpg...

On a 3.4 w e85 I'm not maxing out my injectors either.

What year is your car?
 


you can buy an HP Tuner for 500, and while it won't address the starting issue, which some don't even have, you can adjust for E85 and bigger injectors. I've been running E85 on my car off and on for a few years now and love it. for me, the last time I bought E85, it was 1.85, premium was 2.60 at the time, so the cost is a wash, but for the additional 50 hp, I don't mind. since then, premium has gone up to like 3.00 a gallon and E85 is like 2.00 per gallon, so it probably is cheaper.

I love having the HP Tuner, and think everyone should have one, even if you don't know how to use it.
 
You can swap in 42# injectors, fill up with e85 and no other changes. They will max around a 3.2 pulley.

That being said, a rewire is always a good idea.. even on a stock car.

If you want more power than a 3.2 pulley, figure on 60 or 80# injectors and you'll need a tune for those.
