duplicolor shadow??

Been thinking about doing some cleaning up or painting under the hood supercharger, valve covers, etc.. I was going to paint the valve covers until I remembered that zzp sells those polished aluminum valve covers. Not a huge fan of chrome or polished metal so I thought about maybe using that duplicolor shadow paint to get a blacked out chrome look? I think that would look awesome but I wasnt sure if the paint would stay on them because of the heat or if it would even work. Any ideas?

Ya I saw that in another posting but I'd like it to be shiny still that's why I asked about the shadow paint... Any idea if the shadow will work or if it gets too hot for it?

Sorry must have misunderstood ya. What's the temp rating for that krinkle stuff? I think shadows is like 200-250* also do you think the aluminum would get hotter or the same and the plastic stock covers? Just don't want to buy them and the stuff not work the way I'm thinking it will

i used duplicolor dark gunmetal wheel paint on my valve covers and it heat range was 200-250 and still looks good. I think what you wanna do would look good!

If I had to guess, I'd say that the aluminum gets hotter. But if it's by more than 10*, I'd be super surprised.
thats what I was thinking.

Ive been looking all around and cant seem to find what temp that wrinkle paint is good for??? If its near what the shadow is rated for I think I may try this out just to see how it looks.

Really? Do you have any pictures of what it looks like? Also how long has it been on? Would love to see it.

Well, coolant itself ought to get up to, what, ~220*? I'd say if your valve covers hit 250*, you've got bigger problems.

Found a guy willing to sell brand new ones for a bit cheaper. Most likely will be getting them and seeing how it looks. Any pics yet Pontiacs4life really curious to see how yours turned out
