DRL and HID Help

Hello everyone,

I am looking to pick up some HIDs for my 05 GTP Comp G, however as I was doing some research I noticed that I may need to disable my DRLs to prevent any problems with the HID system. Can someone please help me out with figuring out how to do so? Any help would do thanks.

I beleive there is a fuse for the DRL in the paenger side fusebox. Check your owners manual to be sure. All you need to do is remove that fuse to disable the DRL. Just dont forget you'll now have to manually turn your lights on ;)

I tried this on my 01" and got a nasty clicking sound (informing me that a fuse was "blown") I've heard there is some "extra" work to disable this on 01's.. this might also include 05's.

ps.. Im getting my HID's for a christmas present so this info would also be appreciated.

^ try disconnecting the heatsink inside the dash on drivers side. there is a pop out panel that is covering it right on the side of the dash. this worked for me.

^^^ This. I've got HID lows and HID fogs, and I disabled my DRLs via disconnecting the physical connector on the drivers side. Just google "how to disable DRL in Grand Prix" or the like.

I already have that disconnected (pretty sure its the right part cuz it took me FOREVER to disconnected it)....maybe im missing something.. ill search

Just checked, and ya, I've had that blue and tan wire disconnected from that heatsink for a couple months now. exactly like this MACGP, so I guess I have my DRL's disconnected. Is there anyway to disable the auto headlights, like so I have manual control over them? (the only way I have been able to is to position the light switch in between side corner and headlight option) which is unreal annoying.

Removing the DRL fuse results in a really fast annoying clicking sound.

I was reading up on this alittle and found out people were saying disable the auto lights too, because there unwanted and bad with HID's. Is this true...why would it be bad? your just using them alittle more.....so naturaly like anything else they wear more. is this true, do u need to disable the auto's? i dont see why unless you wanted to save that little bit of wear on the bulbs.
