Drain Plug in Trans pan



Thats what I thought. I dont really plan to but thouht might be easier but I am sure the cost to do it will out weigh removing a few bolts.
 
Theres no point. When you change your transmission fluid, you have to drop the pan to change the filter anyway
 
Actually there is a big point, alot less mess when you go to drop the pan. You should change your tranny fluid every 30k anyways. Go to advance auto or autozone they actually have them on the shelf for a couple bucks, drill a hole and put it in. I have one on my trans and love it!!
 
get aluminum ZZP pan like me, not only does it come with drain plug.... keeps trans temps a lil cooler.

If its only a couple of bucks it cant hurt. The zzp one is like 100 bucks so I think I will run to autozone. Do you know what it is called?
 
I brazed in a threaded sleeve onto the pan, unscrew, drain and less of a mess like it was said above. The ones you drill and add in are kinda like a nut and bolt set up, with a hole through the middle. They have gaskets, and will seep over time, so I went with the more permanent approach.

I use the top of a plastic 55gal drum barrel as my drain pan. Its big enough that you can hit your target when you drop the pan when its full easy enough.

I change my GTP's tranny fluid once a year. The girlfriends GTP every 50K miles. 30K miles I feel is a little too short lived for the fluid for a normal driver, but if your racing it time to time, than ya, 30K would be good.

i bought a 15 qt. oil catcher thing from wal-mart when i did my tranny drain. i worked all the bolts on one side and loosened them so that fluid only dripped from one side. it worked pretty well actually. i wouldn't put a hole in my pan...i'll just use this method from now on...
