Downpipe or Headers?

Just curious what you guys might recommend. I'm currently running a cold-air, 3.4" pulley, colder heat-range plugs and programming PCM. I was ready to purchase a downpipe but was wondering if headers would be better. About the only other major engine mods I'm considering are rockers, ZZPerformance intercooler and a 3.25" pulley.

1.) Would I benefit from headers or would the downpipe with stock manifolds flow enough?
2) Is all this moot since I still have the stock cat-back? Should I be thinking about changing that as well?

Thanks,
Brent

Since you have plans on going with a 3.25 pulley and IC and very likely you are running a 3.4 pulley right now without scanning, I would vote headers. If you go headers most have the flex part of the DP but does not delete the ubend. I would (did) go TOG headers and Hogan TOG bolt-on DP.

However, I would be remiss if I didn't recommend a scanner first.:)

I would recommend getting that 3.4 off and getting a scanner. As far as headers go, it depends on your goals. If you plan on some serious modding later on then do headers. However, if youre going to stay with that 3.25 pulley then do the downpipe and a powerlog. But please scan your car, your mods are not enough to run that 3.4 unless theres been a **** load of timing pulled and youre drowning in fuel with your PCM. STAY AWAY FROM PULLEY ENVY! Pulleys are only a smaller part of a bigger equation. Right now you would probably be slower than a stock GTP.

Edit: The stock catback is fine, dont waste money there. Only thing I would do is remove the U-bend.

i did 3" downpipe w/cat and a u-bend delete . huge difference . my next things is the front powerlog and crossover pipe .

Yeah, I am running the 3.4" pulley and a programmed PCM for that pulley (from 3800performance.com). I have scanned my car quite often and yes, I do get some knock still (between 2 and 6 degrees) at WOT. I was looking for ways to reduce the knock and get some additional power as well.
