Double DIN stero install questions

So I have a pretty decent double DIN stero with built in blue tooth. Clarion CX501 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com I would like to install it into my 2000 Grand Prix GT without Bose and Onstar. I noticed that while it is the same width, it is literally less than an inch to tall. I was wondering what people who have put Double DIN stereos in did to get them to fit and work right? Like how to cut the plastic holder, what kind of mount to use. I would appreciate what ever info I can get.

Some cut the plastic and do some fiberglassing. Do some searching and your bound to find some things. I've seen it done several times. Easy. Probably not if you want make it look pretty.

We we cut the plastic around the radio. We then cut the plactic bar between the radio and climate controls on the dash piece. We need to cut a little above to get it to fit better. Making it look pretty isn't as important because we don't have any material or money to buy material. Real question is how to cut in a curve without breaking the flimsy dash plastic.
