- Remove and unplug the master power window switch mounting plate on the door panel. The bottom part of the mounting plate is wedged into the door panel and the top part hooks into place. The hook part was broken off on my mounting plate from previous removal. The mounting plate was glued in place. The procedure is to put something soft at the bottom of the mounting plate (folded paper towel or rag), insert a screw driver or other similar tool between the door panel and bottom edge of mounting plate, and pivot the mounting plate up using the soft cloth to protect the door panel. Then pull the mounting plate back toward the rear of the door panel to release front hook. Disconnect the four plugs and set mounting plate aside.
- There are two T30 torx head screws behind the pull handle on the door panel (these are covered by small plastic plugs).

- The rest of the panel is held in place by plastic push-in retainers. Use an appropriate wedge/clip removal tool to release these. I started at the bottom and worked my way around. I believe there are about 12 in all. Be careful doing this. I don’t know if I did it or if it happened during a previous removal, but I discovered a crack in my panel (I pointed this out in the photo). There is a substantial retainer in this area on the back side, more so than the others. It literally broke off and a piece remained in the metal door itself.
- Finally, while holding the panel, unplug the courtesy light at the bottom and the tweeter wire at the top (this would be an ideal time to have someone help you hold the panel, but it can be done by yourself).
Note - I believe I could have removed the door panel without having removed the master power window switch mounting plate, but I would have needed a helper to hold the panel and it would have been a pain to undo the electrical plugs. Also, if any of the push-in retainers dislodge from the panel and remain in the metal part of the door, just pull them out and put them back onto the panel before you reinstall it.
