Door Panel modification...

So, I recently swapped in a leather interior in my car. Got all the seats, steering wheel and leather shift knob from the donor car. The only thing I did not get were the door panels. They were too far gone and damaged to be used. I was wondering if anyone has ever done the inserts in the door panels in leather? If so, how was it done? I think they are plastic welded in place if i am not mistaken. Any input or pictures of this being done would be much help. Thanks!

I did that exact mod actually. There's probably an easier way to do it than I did, but the rear for the coupe is drop in with clips. The front and rear for sedan and coupe are the same, you have to drill out plastic rivets and to replace, I used a pick to remove all the staples, peeled the leather back some, drilled holes where rivets were, used small counter - sunk machine screws poking out, re - glued and stapled the leather, and used washers and bolts to re - attach. Now it's a lot stronger than it was, and it's serviceable. I've got pictures if you need them. I'll do a write - up eventually. Good luck!
