Do these cars use a separate key for the door lock or is it the ignition key?

Have a 99 GTP and the key will not work in the door. Before this I had an 04 Regal GS and had the same problem. Both were purchased used and both only had ignition keys. Not sure if I have to spray down the door lock or if I'm just using the wrong key. I know in the early 90's and before they used seperate keys, not sure when it changed over. My 96 Saturn had a single key.

go to any gm dealership and ask for the door and trunk key code. bring proof of ownership. title/reg. they can pull it up with your vin#. if they dont charge over 20 bucks for the new key just get it from them. or take the code and hit up any auto lock smith shop.

you could also buy new locks and keys off ebay. they are pretty simple to change out. but the key code would be the easy way.
