Does coolant evaporate?

I had an bum exhaust gasket when I got my GTP and had it as well as LIM gasket replaced. That was 1500 miles and 2-3 months ago and I'm noticing my coolant reservoir has dropped a good 2 inches from what I filled it to. Is this normal?

I ask about evaporation because I see the reservoir isn't really sealed at all, like it is on my Taurus - which hasn't needed a drop of coolant added since I flushed it 40k ago.

Thanks. Just trying to confirm to myself that I did nip the coolant problem in the bud.

Actually it is not supposed to in a properly sealed system. The only time coolant will evaporate is if you have a bad radiator cap.

The only reason the level would drop is if the cap is bad, or if there was a leak somewhere.

The overflow bottle may not be "sealed" per say, but it does have a lid on it and would prevent the water molecules from escaping as part of evaporation.

Just got to playing around with my throttle body and noticed that its gasket is a goner, at the bottom where the coolant flows in. Maybe that's what's been eating my coolant.
