Does CAI Require Cooler Plugs?

I bought my '08 with 75,000 mostly highway miles. There was a little pre-ignition (part throttle up hill). It seems a little worse now that I've added a CAI (3.5" pipe, K&N filter, homemade Lexan box mated to factory air box / ECU holder).

I just pulled the plugs. They are the factory originals and the gap is worn out to about .064". I am going to replace the wires (Autolite Professional Series #97000) and plugs (Autolite Double Platinum).

This is a daily driver and no other engine mods are planned.

Should I stay with the stock heat range (APP606) or go one step colder (APP605)?
