Does anyone have the axxess aswc-1 steering wheel control adapter?

02 grand prix gt. I installed a cheap JVC head unit from best buy.

It took me over an hour to program the aswc-1. I rechecked the wiring a billion times. As soon as I got fed up and randomly pushed buttons and sh*t, it decided to automatically program itself magically and it started working. It's been working ever since, but RANDOMLY very seldom, the VOLUME will rise a level or 2. I'll look at the radio display to see VOLUME displayed so I know it's moving up. It's almost as if there's a ghost in the car messing with the radio. I noticed when programming it, and pushing buttons, the volume would RISE SO LOUDLY but would never program. Then like I said, it magically worked and all the controls function as they should. This NEVER happened with my stock radio so I doubt the steering wheel controls are bad.

BUT IT ONLY HAPPENS ONCE IN A WHILE IT SEEMS. I didn't use butt connectors or solder. I just twisted the wires and taped them off.

Should I use butt connectors or something? I dread taking it apart though because it's currently working lol.

Being that the issue is intermittent, I'd suspect a bad connection causing your issue. At the very least rule it out and either crimp or solder the connections. I personally solder because it's a bit more tidy than a bunch of butt connectors. I've had the same adapter in my 05 for about 3 years with a Kenwood Excelon and haven't had any issues, I just remember there being too many damn wires cluttering up the install.
