Disabling automatic door locks

I just picked up a 2000 GPT and it's got a feature that I hate on all cars - the doors automatically lock when you take the car out of Park. Then, they'll automatically unlock when you put the car back in Park. I hate that feature with a passion. On all our other Pontiacs I was able to easily disable it. This GPT seems to be a PITA to disable.

So, what's the process to do so? I followed the procedure in the owner's manual with removing the MALL PGM 10 amp fuse, turn the key on, then press the lock button and wait for a "ding". The ding never came. So, I retried it about eight times.

What am I missing? This is annoying!

LOL... this one is a funny one.

The full disable doesn't make a sound. Most of the time you'll skip over it and press the button again ...get a ding and not realize you went onto the next setting.

I know, the manual says it makes a sound. That's where they get you. :th_nanana:

This was my own fault. I wasn't turning the key to "accessory" mode. Instead I was turning the key to the "on" position. No wonder it wasn't working..

Once I put it in "accessory" mode everything worked just fine...chimes and all...

I got the 1 chime but when i tried it out, it still locked automatically. I followed all of the steps exactly... idk what im doing wrong
