Different style MAF??

I got a MAF as a core yesterday that came out of a 3.1L GP, but it isn't like the usual MAF that I've seen for those engines. The OE # is 19207202. It comes with an adapter harness to go from the 5-wire plug to our 3-wire one.

I don't have any intention to use it. I've just never seen this particular one and was wondering if anyone had any insight to its origin/application.
 


I checked interchanges, and generally get '05-'08 v6 cars.

I called a buddy at GM, and he said it was discontinued in '08, but doesn't have any other info.

Like I said in the first post, I'm just curious. If I find out some info, great. If not, no big deal.

Isn't the 3900...the same motor that was in the G6 GTP?

My question wouldn't be if it fit or not, but whether or not what the diameter of the MAF would be an abstuction in the intake tract...say if it was only a 2.5"~ MAF housing...would it have a decent bottle neck effect...unlike the larger LQ4 that we normally use.
 
The ID of the housing it comes in is 3", but it could potentially be mounted in a 4" pipe. It has a 2-bolt mount, similar to the stock L67/L36 MAF. It might actually bolt into a TB, but I don't have one to test that theory.

Weren't you taling about hogging out your N* TB the other day...I'd rather have the same diameter intake all the way through TBH. Do a full 3" from the TB?

See if it makes any difference over your 4" setup?
 


No intention of using it with my current setup, or probably ever. I did check it against the stock MAF I'm selling, and the holes don't line up. So the possibility of using it in a TB is out, unless someone wants to epoxy/drill/tap fresh holes in the TB. My intent on seeking more information on this MAF is to see if it could be a viable option for others to use, but I don't know the frequency/flow limits of it, nor do I even know exactly which vehicles it is intended to be used in. When I pull up vehicle applications that match the Delphi part number, it gives me 2005-2008 GM VARIOUS MODELS. One example I managed to find was a 2005 Buick Century. However, when I look up the factory replacement MAF for that car, I get the older style 3" MAF like this:

What's the cross reference or PN# for the Torrent GXP and G6 GTP in your system...because those got the 3900.
 
2008 Torrent GXP, 2007 G6 GTP, and 2008 G6 GXP all show a similar MAF, but not the same one. The replacement comes up as an AC Delco 213-1677. Right plug, right tube diameter, different element.

What really got me was when my guy at the Chevy dealership said there was next to no information on the sensor. The number printed on the element went nowhere, but the other OE number I posted gave just a tiny bit of info. It appears that GM didn't use it as a factory fitment, and that it may have been intended to supersede something. Who knows...
