• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Did I just screw up lol?

Question. I was installing my head studs late last night. I chased the threads , cleaned them , coated with thread sealant. Coated the studs , installs hand tight , then seated to 10ft/lbs. Cleaned up excess sealant and started to spray my gaskets. Got side tracked and went home for the night.
Having my morning coffee , I'm starting to think it was possible I made a bad choice. Should I have not let the sealant set up over night because I fear torquing the nuts down later today will or could crack the seal?
Should I be concerned?

Dunno if that copper spray ever really "sets". Seems to stay tacky.

I'm jealous though. I debated but decided to just get bolts instead of studs. First time I ever used an angle gauge for tty bolts. It was a real pita doing the rear head. I could barely see the dial even with the block pulled forward. Front one should be much easier but if the heads ever come off I'm doing studs for sure.

Thread sealant doesn't set up (dry) until heated over time. If you pulled studs, you'd find the thread sealant still pliable. If that's what you're asking... And usually, it's a good idea to let it all sit before start up anyways... Problems occur when people put an engine together and can't wait to start er up! Lolz... ; )

Just my $.02

Cant say I disagree here either. But in reality, most installs occur late in the evening, so the sleep pattern allows set time ;)
