dic problrms

Hello I just bought a 2001 gp gt the other day. Everything works except the dic. Traction light comes on and works fine. All the other lights in the dic don't come on. It does have a aftermarket head unit but would that cause the whole dic to not work? Also when the sunlight hits dic I can see everything but it's showing all 9's and stuff. Like it just simply isn't working. Not sure if I should just try changing the light bulbs inside it first then go from there. With that being said anyone know the size light bulbs that into it? And what do I gotta do to remove the dic. And if that doesn't work is it hard to replace it with a New one?

An aftermarket radio should not have anything to do with it. Usually just one bulb goes out and part of the display is still visible. The bulbs "back-light" the dark lens so the LCDs behind it can be seen. If yours is toast, the replacement is easy. Two tabs and a connector and its out, once the dash bezel is off. The bulbs are a wierd number that may have changed. Take your old ones out to check them and / or reference at the bulb gettin place.

The bulb is #24 and I think you need 3 of them. Here's a how-to that I used:

1) Take off the tash trim piece. Use the search function up above if you need help with that.
2) Push in the tabs at the red arrows to remove the DIC from the dash. I found it easiest to start on the right side.
3) Unplug the blue connector on the back. I've done this 4 times now, and every time I swear it will break off. It won't.
4) Take off the faceplate by releasing the 5 tabs by the green arrows.
5) Use a Torx screwdriver (#10 if I remember right) to remove the 2 screws at the red arrows. Pull forward and down to release the tab by the green arrow. You will now see the back of the unit:
6) Remove the lights (blue things) by gently lifting the tabs and then turning them loose (or by un-gently turning it with a large pair of pliers. )
7) Remove the bulb by holding the blue base with pliers and gently wiggling the bulb loose.
8) Put a new bulb in, then work backwards from step 7 to put it back together.
