Detent cable Help!!

Ok so I am new here, I have also recently purchased a red 90' Turbo GP but I had no clue that the detent cable that goes to the throttle broke off and someone used a hose clamp to hold it on there and I guess when I hammered it once it pulled it to tight and now I only have 1st and 2nd gear, what does that cable hook up to in the trans? And how can I get to it?? Any help would be really appriciated!!!
