Deer Suck!

rynoman03

I AM PEWPIN!
Hit one on the way home last night. Seems to have done a bit of damage. Awaiting meeting with an insurance adj to see what kind of moneys I get to fix it. I had previous hail damage that they already paid for including replacing the hood so hopefully that doesn't screw me that I didn't fix it.

We'll see if they decide to go the Totaling route. I got about 2k out of them 2 years ago for the hail damage. I fixed some things but not all of it.

Cars Totaled! Awaiting to see what they offer me and if I can buy it back. Guy that did the adjusting said probably get about 3k value out it.

make sure it didn't cause intrusion into the engine compartment. When I got rear ended in my Vue and pushed into a Trailblazer in front, I thought the front just needed a bumper, headlights, and a hood...until I looked UNDER the hood, and saw that the radiator brackets were broken and everything was pushed backwards from the force of the impact. Just make sure that everything up front is still straight before you decide to buy it back.

Yes my car is black. Cars got 204k on it and they said it was totaled due to the damage exceeding more than 75% of the value of the car. I would hate to get rid of the car but the wife and I are debating paying off her G6 then using the remainder for a downpayment on a different vehicle.

Nothing is damaged under the hood majorly. The plastic between the bumper and radiator is damaged and the headlight mount. I bent it back pretty well but it's not perfect.

Slick that would be cool.

Yes the deer did shat on my car!

Let me weigh my options and see what the insurance offers.

So...

I got a call from State Farm today.

NADA is $3600.00 but they are deducting $700 for it having previous hail damage (not fixed) and $250 for my deductible. But adding almost $300 in taxes and other fees they pay for. So 2950.00 if I let them take the car and 2550.00 if I buy it back. The buyback is only $400.00.

The car has 204k as mentioned above and has some issues but nothing major. A/C needs fixed, needs lca's, needs a new washer fluid tank due to a hole, leaks oil, is a KR monster and hates boost! But I think I could easily fix it for $500.00 or under if I got all JY parts plus body color matching parts. This would make my car have a salvage title and I would never get anything out of it worth a crap. This would most likely let me pay off my wifes G6 a few months early and save me a $300.00 a month car payment. I would like to get another vehicle but at the moment I don't want another car payment and would like to start knocking down some of my debt.

OR I could go route 2 and Pay off the wifes car and put a downpayment on a different vehicle and let the insurance take my ride. It would make me pretty sad to let the GTP go as i've had it for 7 years and I have become quite attached to it even though it needs some tlc and work.

So what are you all's opinions. Lets hear them.

Keep it and fix it when you get the time or part it out. If the buy back is only $400 your not going hurt over the extra $400 you could of got in addition by letting them keep it. If you think your up to the task fix it and drive it. It's up to you I personally wouldn't want to jump into another car payment but that's my $.2. If you pay your wife's g6 off a bit earlier that's $300ish you'll be saving a month then if you decide you still want another car it'll be pretty easy to save up and make payments again. All those minor fixes can be repaired for CHEAP its nothing major.

Ya, that is kind of my feelings too. I'm not afraid of putting a new hood on and fender. The metal headlight mounting area is pretty bent but i got it fairly straightened out. I will prob keep it and fix it. These cars are a dime a dozen anymore but most are not well taken care of. I think it would be a cool car to keep into my later years, but that might be my 29yo age talking. I've got parts laying around 2 states for this thing and really hate to let go of it unless it's absolutely necessary.

Is lining up a fender very hard, or do you just eye ball it and make sure the door opens and the hood closes and gaps look good ?

LOL! I'm gonna buy it back and drive it some more I guess. The remaining money will probably help to pay off the wife's G6 early.

Bent the piss out of the hood and got the headlight installed. The metal bracket still needs some minor finagling but it will work for now. While bending the hood i seemed to sheer off the nipple that holds the hood prop shock on the hood hinge so a new hinge will have to be sourced now. The car is legal to drive now with all the lights working and I hope to get to KC on Sunday or Monday of next week to go junk yard hunting.
