deep chip/scratch and paint repair??

so there's a few deep deep scratches/cracking/scrapes on the front and rear bumper of my GP, so i sanded them down smooth and then -- taped, primed, sprayed color(light coats, then one light heavy), then clear (light, light, heavy). i've been told that it's easy to simply use a polish to blend the paint into the old but so far absolutely no luck. it looks ok but yeah.. i know there's tricks to this but so far i haven't heard of anything. any suggestions??

You cant sand paint to blend it in. You have to spray and blend at the same time and if your using a rattle can you just made a bigger mess.
dont tape off a section of a fender and expect it to blend into the old paint. :)

yeah but i know for fact that this is how they do it if you'd take it to a pro.. i can't find any info on the exact procedure tho.. :/

when your spraying u gotta tape at least a foot or so farther than your painting. then when your spraying u have to kinda turn your wrist at the end of your spray, so the ends get lighter coats. this makes the color blend it. then u clear right after sanding, and it should help melt the paint a little, blending it. then just sand the clear with 1500, and buff it out. ur done :th_thumbsup-wink:

yeah that's what i meant when i said i taped off. ok cool thanks! what grit do you suggest for before clear?? cuz every time i try this you can still see the area..
