deck & steering wheel control questions from an idiot

Planning to get a deck, an Alpine CDA-9884, to be exact.
I have steering wheel controls and I would prefer that they continue to work once the new deck is in. Am I going to have to use a swi-jack or something to keep them working with the 9884?
Anyone have any experience with best buy installation? Would they install the necessary item to keep the steering wheel controls working, if its even needed?
 


Oh I've read up on it, and pretty sure its all compatible. I'm just hoping someone can explain it in idiot-terms.. which is what I need. :(
 
The Alpine deck should have the input for the swi jack. I am told the wireless one is junk though so don't go with that. I am going to be getting the 9886 model and the swi jack for my car as soon as I sell an old deck I have to help pay for it. I am not sure how it all wires up but I assume it's not too difficult.
 


Well i have experience with best buys installation they wanted to do mine for free so i let them an they did a good job i watched the kid like a hawk though an told him exactly how to get the pannels off to get to it to make sure he didnt mess anything up. He did a good job i have had no troubles whatso ever with it. I didnt have the steering wheel interface installed though to me its no big deal not having them. You get used to them not being available pretty quick but from what i have read on here alot of people that have them have had good results. Best buy will tell you that it often doesnt work though so that would be your call if you wanted to have them do it or not. i'm not sure if they use the same one everyone out here uses or if they have their own.
