Debating on what to do...

As some of you know I have a crap load of mods + maintance items to install on my car, some of which include...

-TOG Headers
-105# Valve Springs/retainers/Valve Seals/reusable bolts
-New solid lower Trans + Motor mounts
-New S/C gaskets (to replace the suck ass Garlocks)
-New Valve Cover gaskets, both
-Steelbraided fuel lines to replace the GM lines
-Built Trans w/ 3.29s, 3000stall, L36 Flex

I'm pretty much solo on this project (just like all the others). I'm debating on wether to install the Trans now, or wait. I bought the Built Trans a year ago and its been sitting ever since. The trans in my car seems to work fine. I'm wondering if I SHOULD just run it till it goes, or go ahead and put in the built one. I'd like to race the car again at some point, I had fun when I did although I couldn't drive and street tires suck.

My stock tranny has 155,000 miles on it and it ain't ain't worth anything to anyone. And if something happened to the built tranny, I highly doubt I would just put back in the high mileage tranny, It wouldn't make sense to me.

Thoughts? So much work to do, not enough time or help to do it. The
tranny couple probably go in on a weekend, still it won't be fun.

I was thinking maybe I could do everything but the trans/stall/ and flex and while i'm working on everything, drop the pan and see how things look.

Any advice appreciated...

I have 3 things to say.......

GET R DONE

winter time is for mods... gives you all spring and summer to enjoy
your rewards with all the smiles and stares as you come rollin
by in that beast....
Your bigest reward----> GOT R DONEyourself...

you have spent all that money on mods.....why not enjoy them?

also interested in your old tranny...blown up or not

I sure would have been interested in that tranny with the shape mine is in. Heck we could have had a mod weekend or something and taken yours out, put in your built tranny and then pulled mine and put in your old tranny in my car.

I would personally go ahead and put in your new tranny. Your old tranny, while maybe not worth much, is worth something. I got my spare tranny off of Craigs List from a guy near OKCY that had 100k on it. I didnt really care about mileage because I knew Id be rebuilding it so it worked out great.

Main thing thats stopping me from doing the tranny is no help to do it or time. my next weekend off I want to do it. So that leaves me 1 1/2, MAYBE 2 days max. If I have any problems along the way, i'm screwed.

Scotty, how much did you get your tranny for? What all did it have?

I was planning on selling mine w/ the converter and flexplate.

You got a PM UrLosn...

Would you believe I only gave $200 for it, it came with TC and used axles and the guy drove out to me to deliver it, it was complete. But I gave him $50 for gas cause that was just way above and beyond. I didnt get the flexplate, but thats okay too, I need one drilled for a 245mm TC that I have.

If I had wanted I could have dropped mine out and put this one in.

I can't and won't rebuild a tranny, especially a 4T65-HD. I've been around a tranny before, I'll stick w/ dropping the pan and replacing the filter only. :-) LOL. Years ago a buddy and I tried once, lets just say it lasted a day if that. I'm no tranny builder period.

And, if the new built tranny goes, I'll send it to Trannyman to rebuild. There no way i'm going to waste all the hard parts that are installed. Thats really the only reason I have it.
